The Marlins
Marlin Families,
We are excited to get another summer league season off to a great start and we want to extend a big welcome to our new swim team families! Below are some important reminders and resources!
1. Join the team "Remind" to stay up to date on announcements and practice cancellations: https://www.remind.com/join/68462a
2. Freezie Pops: Don't forget to being your freezie pops. Each family is responsible for contributing one box of freezie pops!
3. Team Swimsuits:
We love to see our swimmers in team colors, but understand that sometimes factors like availability of certain sizes or cost can be prohibitive. So, our suits are encouraged but not mandatory - plain navy suits of any brand are a great alternative to the team suit.
4. Practice Attire and Equipment:
We do, however, require jammers or briefs for boys, and racing suits for girls as traditional suits are prohibitive to learning and growth. The excess drag created by traditional trunks or girl’s suits with skirts or other unnecessary fabric can make it harder to practice, learn, and build skills and confidence.
Goggles are a NECESSARY part of developmental swimming and are expected at practices. They provide visibility which allows swimmers to circle swim properly and learn proper head position in the water.
5. Parent Spectating and Participation: The greatest contribution you can make to your swimmer’s progress is to be a supportive parent and allow them independence during the practice sessions. Our goal is for the swimmers to focus their attention on their coach during the practice session. Please assist the coaches by not talking with or motioning to swimmers during practice. Coaches and parents are on the same team in regard to wanting to see a child thrive in their learning environment and with the skills being taught, but the coaches must be allowed to regulate a swimmer’s swimming speed or lane order on a given length and address behavioral issues. Self-regulation to pay attention to the task at hand, successes and failures, and adapting to the learning environment are all part of the process.
If urgent questions or concerns arise, you may approach the head coach during practice to allow our age-group coaches to continue giving their attention to all of our swimmers. Otherwise, feel free to chat with any of the coaches before or after practice! If you're new to the swim team, come introduce yourself!

2020 Practice Schedule:
Morning practices begin Monday, June 8th M-F 8:00-9:15am for 11 & Up, 9:15-10:30am for 10 & Under. Our season will end Friday, July 10th.
In an attempt to accommodate families who have been unable to join the team because of morning practice times, we will be adding afternoon practices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in season from 6:00-7:15. This practice will only be available to families who register for it at the beginning of the season and will have a limited number of spots available. If you have a need for this practice, you must indicate so on the registration.
Tyler McCullough will be returning as Head Coach. At this time the guidance from the Governor and Fire Marshal prohibit contact between coaches and swimmers so swimmers will need to be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted. If the guidance on this changes we will let you know. We will participate in the swim league’s virtual meet. Since we will not be having swim meets on Saturdays this year, we are bringing back an old favorite: Fun Fridays. Please complete the registration in Google Forms that will come separately. Fees will be $50 for one child, $100 for two children and $150 for three or more children. Please bring your check to your first practice or you may pay by Chase QuickPay. Directions for Chase QuickPay are below.
